Online banking

New Online Banking is easier to use and is packed with exciting features to speed up your banking – whether you’re logging in, making payments or navigating around.

We're introducing the service to customers now – so you'll get to use it soon. What hasn’t changed is our focus on security – new Online Banking is still completely secure.

If you're logging in to new Online Banking for the first time, you can watch our demo video to see what's changed.

 

We’ve made it even easier to view your account balances and transactions.

At a glance, you will only see 1 balance per account on your homepage – this is the current cleared balance for that account. It is the money that's available for you to use immediately. Remember, though, your balance is updated throughout the day and some transactions you've already made may not appear on your account right away. So please ensure you keep track of your payments separately until they appear.

To check whether payments have appeared on your account, select the account you're interested in from your homepage to see a condensed view of its transactions. You can expand each transaction to see more detail.

Here are just a few of the new features we’ve introduced:

Personalise your homepage
Make the homepage your own by selecting the information you want to appear, in the order you want. You can also carry out many tasks without leaving your homepage.
 
Easier log in
Choose the details you use to log in – whether it's your membership number, debit card number or sort code & account number. Set up a passcode to log in without PINsentry.
 
International payments
With new Online Banking, you can now send money to bank accounts overseas. And you can make payments to UK accounts which are guaranteed to arrive on the same day.
Help Centre
We’ve created a comprehensive Help Centre so you’ll never be stuck when banking with us online – whether you’re managing your existing accounts or applying for new ones.
 
Track my payments
It’s now much easier to check the status of your payments. Under Track my payments, you can see the date and time the payment was made, and if it was accepted.
 
Standing orders
It now only takes a few clicks to set up a regular payment – between your accounts or to someone else’s. Just go to Set up a standing order under Account services.
 

Your new homepage

  • We've replaced the old At a Glance (or My Portfolio for business accounts) with Accounts home.
  • As well as getting a quick overview of all your accounts, you can now carry out several tasks without leaving the homepage. These include making a payment or transfer, updating your personal details, tracking a payment and exporting your data.
  • You can move your accounts up and down your list so your most important ones appear at the top.

Navigation is simpler

  • The main blue navigation bar now runs across the page with a dropdown menu displaying all the links you need in one place.
  • There's a complete site map at the bottom of every page.
  • You can return to the homepage at any point by selecting Accounts home in the left of the blue menu bar.

Viewing balances & transactions

  • We’ve made balances clearer. You'll see 1 balance per account. This is the current cleared balance indicating the money you have available to spend.
  • Plus, it's simpler and quicker to view your account transactions. Just select the account you're interested in and you'll see a condensed view of its transactions. You can expand each transaction to see more detail.

Shortcuts for your most common tasks

  • There are now 5 shortcuts available for your Accounts home page, which allow you to carry out common tasks without navigating away from your accounts.
  • These are a quick version of the full task – there may be occasions (for example, setting up a new payee) when you'll need to use the full version.
  • The 5 shortcuts are Transfer money, Make a payment, Track my payments, My details and Export my data.
  • You can remove these from the homepage if you want by selecting the close button on each function. To get them back, click the ‘Add more to this page’ button in the top blue menu bar and locate the box you need. Then just select the Add button.
  • To access the full service, either select the shortcut name or go to Account services in the top blue menu bar.

Easier log in – Desktop and Mobile

Desktop log in

  • We‘ve updated log-in so you can choose the details you use to identify yourself – either your 12-digit membership number, your Barclays debit card number or your sort code and account number. Also, PINsentry users can now have both a passcode log-in and PINsentry so you can choose how you access the service. Remember that PINsentry gives you access to all services. Look for Account services in the top blue menu bar to manage your log-ins.

Mobile log in

  • You’ll see that your Mobile Banking log-in screens have changed for the better.  The log-in changes will affect both PINsentry users and passcode/memorable word users.
  • You can choose the details you use to identify yourself – either your 12-digit membership number, your Barclays debit card number or your sort code and account number.    
  • PINsentry users can set up a memorable word & passcode so that they can log in without their card reader to carry out certain functions such as checking balances.

Once we've moved you over to new Online Banking, you can no longer access the old version. When you select the 'Log in' button from our website, you’ll be taken directly to the log-in page for new Online Banking. Please call the Online Banking helpdesk on 0845 600 2323 1 from 7am to 11pm any day of the week if you experience problems (outside the UK dial +44 2476 842063).
